Malvaceae Gossypium
A tropical, perennial plant, cotton is grown from seed in the
U.S. as an annual crop. Cotton, also known as "White Gold", is very easy to grow
from seed. Growing cotton from seeds is a great educational tool to
show the kids where the fabric cotton actually comes from. Kids love to get
involved in such seed growing projects!
Beautiful white flowers grace the cotton plants in mid-summer.
Dried cotton bolls can be used as filler in flower arrangements.
